Frequently Asked
Questions- Part II

There's a good chance that you or someone you know will be involved in an accident this year. Here are some helpful do's and don'ts to follow in the event you are involved in a car accident.

Do's and Don'ts?

Turn off your vehicle's engine and wait for assistance. If you are in an intersection, you should pull the vehicle to the side of the road or into a well-lit parking lot.

Is it nighttime? Is the area well-lit? Ask yourself: is it safe to get out of my car?

Remain calm!

Are you injured? Check yourself and others. Seek immediate assistance if necessary.

Call the police or your emergency number. In an emergency, dial 911. Otherwise, contact the proper athorities at the new, non-emergency number, 311.We have had many customers come to us with incorrect information that was gathered at the scene of an accident. Trying to be helpful or courteous by not contacting the police ended up costing them plenty!

Be courteous and tactful to all parties involved. Make sure your thoughts are clear and organized before you make any statements to the police or insurance personnel.

Don't accept fault, even if you believe it may be your fault. You'll provide a proper explaination of the situation when necessary.

Exchange names, addresses, license numbers and insurance information with all parties involved in the accident. It is advisable to gather witness information as well.

Contact ABG as soon as reasonably possible. We will assist in the processing of your claim whether it is through your insurance or the other party's. Our claims specialist will get you in a rental car and back on the road in no time.
